If this happened last April, I am hoping you're still not seeing the industrial clinic. Either way, by now u should be able to elect ur own treating physician depending on what State u r in. In some minor cases, returning to work in some limited capacity (temporary work restrictions) can be therapeutic. However, in more severe cases being taken off work altogether is more appropriate. Discuss ur issues with ur doctor. If u think ur doctor is being too aggressive in getting u back to work, call ur adjuster to find out how to get a new doctor.
As far as ur income, you're entitled to temporary disability benefits if the doctor takes u off work, or if the doctor gives u those work restrictions that ur boss can not work around.
If you're motivated to go back to work, u need to find out from ur doctor what is wrong with you, & what can be done about it so u can get back to work. Being on disability is no fun. Not working is also frustrating. Getting an attorney will also impact ur employer financially because that will increase the cost of ur claim.
If u r not concerned about what happens to ur employer, or if ur adjuster is not doing anything for you, then getting an attorney will help u find that doctor that will take u off work. They know which doctors to refer u to. An attorney is supposed to help ensure u do get everything you're entitled to under ur State is work comp system. This is especially helpful if ur adjuster is not doing anything on ur claim.
The point of work comp is to get u back to ur pre-injury condition, cover lost wages when u can not work, & compensate u for permanent disability if treatment does not completely cure you. At that point, u will get some permanent work restrictions & hopefully ur employer can take u back in any capacity.
