How would you feel/what would you do?
And then if she denied you access to see her in hospital, saying she did not want to?

(l just wanna know your opinion, this is not my daughter l am talking about.)
Actually JulianMommy, at least in my country, you would not have a right to see her if she forbids you to.
Australia.

How would you react if your 14yo daughter had just overdosed on painkillers

AY DIOS MIO! (omg)
I would probably break down & sink into a DEEEEP depression! I dont even have kids but goodness that makes u really think doesnt it!!
I would definitely get her to the hospital & then send her to a mental health clinic when she was done at the reg. hospital. then afterwards keep her under counseling sessions.
I was at that point at one time & i got the help i needed in enough time.. thank goodness right?!
well i just never thought about how it would make my mom feel.. well im over that ''stage'' as everyone used to say it was.

I would definitly freak out.
Take her straight to the hospital.
Put her in a mental hospital or rehab.
Get her a counselor.
And hide ALL pills to where she can not get them
And monitor her very closely with her friends.

my daughter wouldnt because even at 14 they are to young to keep major pills in their rooms or just where ever they can get them.i would have them in my reach only and make sure they got their pills on time
say it did happen i would def take her to the hospital she would not get a ''i do not want to''

hospital straight away.

Painkillers r normally fatal if u have too many only it takes several days & hurts like hell.

Send in friends or anyone else she will speak to to find out why.

Take the 'why' very fking seriously & act on it.

common reasons r bullying, abuse, rape, possible pregnancy & scared of ur reaction, isolation, realtioship gone bad,. unable to get a boyfriend, fell in love nly boyfriend played & dumped her publically.

Most of these u can pre empt with self defence, social skills, helping her pull (parents hate that, but better a sexaully active happy daughter on contrception then a dead daughter), & be alert to any questions out of the blue that could indicate serious trouble.

councelling may help but u need to target the root problem.

It may mean taking quite a bit off time off work.

I would be so worried and scared. I would be first worried about her health then when she got better i would be sending her to rehab.
If she did not want to see me, tough luck she is 14, still a child and i would have say so over her.

She is just really confused right now. She needs a mother or a friend or someone who she can talk to & open up to. I am also a teen & I understand what shes is going through. It could be one of two things:
1) A desperate cry for ur attention.
*She may just want ur love & attention. You two may not spend enough time together & although it is sick, she may hae thought this is the only way for anyone to notice me.
2) Or something really serious is going on in her life & she needs immediate care. Wether that be a therapist or just someone that she can talk to & let them know what is going on. She may not feel comfortable opening up to you.

So what u need to do is wait until she gets out of the hospital & have a nice long talk with her. She may open up or she may not, just be patient. Also, I would make sure that she has no access to any kind of medicine..please keep it under lock & key. Good luck with this problem, but it will be ok..just keep ur head held high!!:)
